The raid in Stamford took place around 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, after officers wrapped up several weeks of surveillance and two undercover drug buys from Danny Turkvan, 46, of Bridgeport, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.

The bust went down when officers staking out his father's house on Lipton Place saw Turkvan come out the back door of the house and make a hand-to-hand deal with another man, Conklin said.

Officers moved in and took Turkvan into custody, finding a rock of crack cocaine weighing 21.2 grams and $390 bucks in his pockets. The crack is worth around $2,100, Conklin said.

The officers then searched the house and his sister Alessandria Turkkvan, 29, who lives at the home, showed officers to her bedroom where she had 18 bags of pot hidden behind her headboard, he added.

Officers also found additional marijuana, scales and packaging materials, Conklin said.

Danny Turkvan, who is on parole and very familiar to Stamford police for drug arrests, Conklin said, was remanded to the Department of Corrections with a $400,000 bond. He was charged with illegal possession of narcotics with intent to sell, two counts of sales of narcotics (for the undercover buys), and operating a drug factory.

His sister was charged with operating a drug factory, sale of illegal drugs and possession of a controlled substance, Conklin said.

"Once again the Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad is doing a great job getting drugs off the street," Conklin said.
